ZTS Seeds is a strategic business unit which was formed in 2012 to facilitate the effective commercialization of climate smart hybrid maize seeds varieties – Sirdamaize 113, Sirdamaize 115 and Sirdamaize 713 and any other crop varieties developed by SIRDC scientists within Zimbabwe and beyond.

• Significant yield advantage over other hybrid seed varieties under drought conditions.

Characteristics
A tough climate-smart maize seed variety with the following characteristics:
• White semi-flint three-way hybrid Maize seed.
• Drought tolerance.
• Yield potential of up to 12.35 tons per hectare.
• Very good husk cover.
• Resistant to diseases such as Maize streak virus, Grey-leaf spot and Leaf Blights.
• Stay-green trait.
• Good Standability.
• 135 days to full Maturity

• Thrives under low phosphorous conditions.
• Reaches physiological maturity around 150 days.
• Resistance to Leaf Spot Virus.
• Locally researched and developed.
• Also suitably for silage.
ZTS installed a 5-ton capacity seed processing plant that processes a variety of seeds including maize, soya bean and small grains such as sorghum and finger millet. Our high capacity is ideal for large scale production. The process includes seed cleaning, destoning, grading, coating and packaging.
Cleaning process – air screen cleaning, destoning and gravity separation.
Energy efficiency – the machine is designed to minimize energy consumption, reducing operational costs and environmental impact.
Robust – Its robustness nature and minimum moving parts reduce maintenance costs and downtime.
Automation – streamlined processes for increased productivity.
Seed grading – separation of seed based on size, shape and density, ensuring high-quality seed preparation for planting or packaging; multiplicity of sieves.
Seed coating – designed to efficiently coat seeds with various substances such as fungicides, herbicides, and growth-promoting chemicals. The seed is uniformly quoted to improve their protection and germination rates.
