Zimbabwe Technological Solutions (Private) Limited (ZTS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Scientific and Industrial Research and Development Centre (SIRDC). Established in October 2006 in terms of the Companies and Other Business Entities Act [Chapter 24:31], The company was created to commercialize SIRDC research technologies, products and outputs as clearly spelt out in tis Moto; “Innovation to Industry”. ZTS plays a pivotal role in delivering practical, market-ready solutions that benefit Zimbabwean industries and communities, contributing to national development.

ZTS commercializes SIRDC research products and outputs. The company has Strategic Business Units (SBUs) that include the Seed Division, Foundry Division, Seed Processing Unit and the Retail Division which distributes ZTS products to market.

The Seeds Division offers various types of climate-smart seeds that include hybrid maize seed; Sirdamaize 113 and Sirdamaize 115. Other seeds that are sold by ZTS include Sunflower, Sorghum, Finger Millet, Pearl Millet, Rice and Potato Seeds.

The Foundry and Engineering Division produces custom-made products through the processing of metal casting. It also value adds the castings into complete assembled product units. The foundry is a one-stop- shop that offers a full range of requirements starting from producing drawings, pattern-making, molding and casting and heat treatment. The Division provides castings for the mining, automotive, infrastructural development, agriculture, automotive and general engineering sectors.

The Retail Division is a conduit of ZTS and other products into the market. It distributes and sells products that SIRDC research outputs and other products including:
  • Maize seed and vegetable seeds
  • Farm implements and their accessories,
  • Building Materials.
  • Electrical supplies
  • Animal feed,
  • Animal health, livestock vaccines and antibiotics
  • Agro-Chemicals
  • Foundry Products
  • Kitchen ware

  • Corn Wet Milling – A key industrial process that separates maize into starch, protein, fibre, and oil, supplying high-value inputs for food, pharmaceutical, and industrial use.
  • Herbs and Spices – Value addition to herbs and spices to meet growing local, regional, and international demand driven by increasing health awareness.
  • Stockfeeds – Development and production of stockfeed solutions in response to rising national demand, building on existing research prototypes.

Yes, ZTS operates a state-of-the-art seed processing plant with a capacity of 5 tons per hour. This service is available for both internal use and toll manufacturing for external clients. We provide toll processing service at very competitive rates for various seeds and grains, including Maize seed, Sugar beans, Sunflower, Soya beans, Wheat, Traditional grains and other seeds.
